The development of Internet of Things (IoT) has increased considerably over the years, as IoT networks bring together communication technologies to provide secure and flexible connectivity to numerous devices in several applications. Furthermore, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, notably machine learning, becomes of great interest to circumvent highly complex problems, such as the allocation of communication and energy resources, since data is massive and multidimensional in IoT networks. AI is nowadays one of the most innovative and most impactful technologies in the communication field and can be applied for efficient allocation of communication and energy resources in order to optimize them, mainly to reduce the inherent impacts of human action on the environment.
